The Winter Shelter in Maidstone is making a big difference to the lives of people who, in circumstances often beyond their control, find themselves homeless.
Homelessness continues in Maidstone, Kent, with reported figures of 40+ men and women living on the streets. Maidstone Churches Winter Shelter relies on the partnership of all kinds of people, agencies and organisations, including volunteers and team members.
The Shelter opened it's doors for the 7th consecutive winter on 03 January 2020 and planned to run until the morning of 30 March 2020. Unfortunately we had to close our doors a week early though, on the morning of 23 March 2020, due to the outbreak of Coronavirus (Covid-19) and it's impact on our volunteer numbers, plus in order to protect our guests, volunteers and staff. However, Maidstone Borough Council worked hard to find accommodation for our remaining guests.
